The NFL Heats Up its Engines
The Titans defeated the Bills in the Hall of Fame Game, the preseason opener.
The first touchdown of the preseason game was a work of art and thanks to a fake punt by the Titans’ rookie kicker A.J. Trapasso who ran for 40 yards to score. Tennessee upped the game some more in the first quarter when LenDale White carIn the second quarter, the Bills came through with a 20-yard field goal by Rian Lindell. This would be the first of three field goals he would score.
Tennessee responded immediately with a touchdown pass by Vince Young to Paul Williams who carried the ball three more yards for the second touchdown of the night.
The second quarter ended with the second Buffalo field goal kick, this one for 47 yards, leaving the scoreboard at 21-6 in favor of the Titans.
In the third quarter there was some movement on the scoreboard as Rian Lindell scored his third field goal of the night for the Bills; a 52-yarder.
The Bills picked it up a notch during the last quarter, putting some more pressure on the Titans, picking off a pass for an interception, and a 26 yard dash for a touchdown by Reggie Corner.
For the boys from Buffalo it was Terrell Owens’ debut as the team’s newest receiver making 2 completions for 27 yards. Titan quarterback Kerry Collins, however, highlighted the night with 7 of 10 complete passes for a total of 82 yards with no interceptions.
The next preseason game will see the Chicago Bears visit Buffalo, and the Titans will have to measure up to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
