Mark Sanchez will start for the Jets

Mark-Sanchez-named-StarterMark Sanchez will take the helm of the New York Jets’ offense as starting quarterback for the first time in his whole NFL career when they face the Baltimore Ravens in the second week of NFL preseason betting.

And it’s a well deserved reward after his excellent performance against the St. Louis Rams, his debut.

The Mexican quarterback will get his first start in Baltimore, as was announced during practice on Sunday at SUNY Cortland. He will be taking the place of Kellen Clemens, a provisionary QB. Sanchez completed three of four passes for an 88 yard offensive that spanned 8 plays and ran a total of 93 yards. The Rams still won 23-20, but Sanchez’s stellar performance was enough to land him a spot as starting QB.

Upon receiving the news, Mark kept his reserve and simply expressed his happiness for the opportunity placed before him. “It’s just a matter of the rotation, though. Nothing’s changed yet and it’s just the way things shake out, but of course I’m excited.”

He’s the best paid player in the history of the New York Jets, and he hasn’t played so much as a single regular season game.

Sanchez was chosen 5th by the Jets in the recent NFL Draft; the “Big Apple” team traded him as the Browns’ first round pick with their first and second round picks. The Browns received defensive end Kenyon Coleman.

It’s been 40 years since the Jets won their last Super Bowl, Super Bowl III. Back in those days “Broadway” Joe Namath was their quarterback. Now, “Broadway” Mark Sanchez has a chance to live up to the title as Jets QB and give them a real shot at the playoffs.
