The screens will remain where they are

scoreboardThe NFL commissioner Roger Goodell made the rules very clear concerning the kick offs that bounce off the high definition screens that hang in the new Cowboys Stadium.

This whole situation began during the first game in the new stadium when the ball bounced off the screens during a kick off. At that moment, the referees had no idea what to do concerning this issue, considering there has never been a rule established for such a situation.

Maybe the biggest part of this announcement is the course of action for this NFL betting season. This is an indication that the NFL could have to make it mandatory that the screens be raised before the 2010 NFL football odds season, considering Super Bowl XLV will be held there in 2011.

“We will continue to address the particular circumstances in Dallas, giving full consideration to the competitive, safety and fan experience issues involved,” Goodell said to the NFL odds public. “The Cowboys have been fully cooperative as we have addressed this subject, and we will continue to work closely with the club on a longer term resolution.”

Long term changes can only be made during an annual meeting over the rules, but expect NFL wagering to suffer very little consequence.

It’s pretty uncommon for such a situation to present itself in which the ball hits the screens, especially because NFL betting kick offs are usually aimed at the sidelines and never down the middle of the field. But in case of such an event, the down will be replayed.
