The AFC Elite: Four Teams Remain Perfect
Four teams in the AFC remain perfect so far in the AFC and in NFL football odds, and its little surprise that they all happen to leading their respective divisions. Among this group of undefeated there are three very good teams, two rookie head coaches and one team that simply doesn’t belong: the Broncos.
Give credit to first-year coach Josh McDaniels, it’s not easy to go 3-0 in your debut, but incredible luck and poor AFC West opponents have more to do with that than anything that Broncos have accomplished. That’s why this team doesn’t belong in the group with the other NFL football odds AFC elite.
But the other three are firmly among the best in the AFC, which seems as though it could be ultra competitive this season. The Colts have been all Peyton Manning this year and he’s gotten off the one of the best starts of his storied NFL odds career. Defensive question marks? Who cares when you’re Manning & Co are scoring at will.
The Jets have been one of the biggest surprises in the football odds and with a big win over a tough Pats’ squad have proven they are the class of the AFC East. The offense is solid and Rex Ryan’s blitzing schemes have driven opponents crazy.
But the best team on this list of AFC elite through three weeks has been the birds from Baltimore. This could be the best squad in the NFL. Second-year man Joe Flacco could be the league’s MVP and he’s put up monster numbers with very little talent around him. The defense has lost a step but it’s still full of playmakers.
Of the undefeated, Baltimore holds the reins in the AFC –at least for now.
