Skins at Panthers: The Pink Slip Bowl
The Washington Redskins are a team in NFL football odds turmoil. Or least that’s what the headlines say. Jim Zorn is a loss away from being fired and the Jason Campbell would already be on the bench if the team had any depth at QB. And so every game, including its week five match up with Carolina has become a must win game.
The host Panthers aren’t exactly having a fairy tale of a NFL football odds season either with QB Jake Delhomme throwing nearly as many passes to the other team as his own receivers and coach John Fox almost certainly headed for the scrap heap unless his team wins the Super Bowl.
The desperation will be thick in the air as these two struggling teams and struggling coaches fight to remain relevant in the NFL odds.
The NFL odds makers favor the home team Panthers by four. That’s a bold prediction for a team that’s winless (0-3) so far this year.
Washington enters the football odds contest with a 2-2 record and a tough come-from-behind victory in Tampa last week. Campbell was hot and cold playing his best and worst half of football in that game.
Carolina’s defense could be the worst in the NFL and that’s good news for the struggling Skins. RB Clinton Portis should be healthy for Washington and will pound a weak Panthers defensive front opening plenty of passing lanes for Campbell.
This should be an upset, at least in the football odds, and Washington should finally get above .500, securing Zorn’s job for yet another week.
