AFC West is All of a Sudden Very Interesting
The NFC West has long been the doormat of the NFL football odds conference. It rarely gets any respect (nor does it deserve any) and has relegated to irrelevance more times than not when the post season arrives.
But it’s also enigmatic considering that it’s claimed an NFC conference title two of the past five NFL football odds seasons and after a retched start this season it appears to be one of the more competitive divisions in the conference.
San Fran started out the season running the tables on its NFL odds competition and looked to have sewn the NFC West up in the first month of the season. The Niners (3-3) went 3-1 (including 3-0 in division play) before being humiliated by the Falcons and suffering a loss to Houston.
That opened the door to the defending NFC champ Cards (4-2) to jump into first place with a huge win over the Giants on the road to take the NFL odds division lead.
And don’t forget about the Seahawks (2-4), a team that has been playing pretty rotten so far but a team that has all the pieces to be explosive on offense and more than competent on defense. And it’s only two games out of the football odds lead in the NFC West. The Rams have no chance.
This may not be the highest caliber of football in the league for now, it’s still a three-team race for the division title and that’s a lot more exciting than most divisions at this point in the season.
