Saints Look for win at Falcons

December 9th, 2009 Matthew Logan No comments

Saints Look for win at FalconsNew Orleans seems to be a team of fate this NFL football odds season.  The Saints have escaped from tighter jams than Houdini on their way to compiling a perfect 12-0 season record.  And anyone who saw the team’s escape act in week 13 at Washington can only marvel at how this team cheated a loss.

As such it is all but impossible to bet against this team.  If it didn’t lose to Redskins after trailing by 10 points in the 4th quarter and after getting break after wacky break it doesn’t seem possible that this team will drop a game in the football odds this season. Read more…

Niners Seahawks in important NFC West showdown

Niners Seahawks in important NFC West showdownNot that many people are paying attention to the comings and goings of the NFC West (a division that has seemed relegated to second class despite producing two conference Champions in the past four years) but there is very important division match up this weekend on the NFL football odds.

The struggling Seahawks (4-7) will host the up and down Forty-Niners (5-6) in a game that could have major ramifications in how the division title race shapes up. Both teams trail the Rams (4-7) and will have to basically win out to catch them.  But this task seems much more likely for the Niners than the Hawks, which by most variables are a pretty bad team.

Fading skins playing for little more than pride vs. eagles

In most years this would be a typical punishing NFC East rivalry fraught with big hits, big plays and an interesting story line. And it still may be but the big plays are likely only to come from one team and it’s not likely to be all that competitive.

The Redskins, for whatever reason, are simply not a good team. They have been given the benefit of the doubt one too many times and with a 3-7 record against a mediocre schedule this team has proven, definitively that it is among the poorer teams in the NFL football odds. Read more…

Clash of the AFC North Titans: Bengals at Steelers

Clash of the AFC North Titans Bengals at SteelersThere is only one game in week nine that can rival this monumental AFC North NFL football odds matchup and that’s the undefeated Colts against the 6-2 Pats. But in terms of meaningful games, this one just might be the best matchup all week.

The Bengals and Steelers are both 6-2 and tied for first in the division. The Bengals won the first head-to-head meeting in Cincy with come from behind effort in the final seconds and control the tie-breaker.

The Steelers must win not only to take the NFL football odds lead outright, but to eliminate Cincy’s tiebreak advantage.

Both of these teams should be in the postseason and both teams harbor legitimate NFL odds hope for a shot at the Super Bowl.  In round one of this rivalry the Steelers dominated most of the game before giving up 14 points in the closing minutes. Don’t think this defense won’t forget. Read more…

Bucs Will be the Packers Punching Bag in Week 9

November 4th, 2009 Matthew Logan No comments

Packers Cowboys FootballYou couldn’t order up a better NFL football odds rebound for the Green Bay Packers after a gut-wrenching loss in the Favre Bowl than what’s dialed up for week 9. After having their hearts ripped out at Lambeau Field by the Favre and his new team this team needs a punching bag of an opponent to take out their frustrations and they’ll get it.

Poor Buccaneers. After a devastating and emotional loss like the one suffered on Monday Night, the Pack could use a trip to balmy Florida and a marshmallow opponent to run the score up on.

Now 3½ games back in the NFC North NFL football odds standings the team will also need a win. And they’ll get it.

Green Bay is still a playoff caliber team and could easily be one of the Wild Card teams in the NFL odds post season.  It’s ranked in the top ten in both defense and offense and its 27 ppg is evidence of a potent offense. Read more…
